Applying Copied Archivelogs to Recover to a Post-Backup Point in Time
Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this.
To begin with, the scenario:
I am running an 11.2.0.1 database on 64 bit Linux. We have a hardware DR approach of using a Physical Standby Database using Data Guard at our secure and rather protected data center.
I take a weekly level 0 backup using RMAN that we copy to an offsite facility. I take daily level 1 full incremental backups also using RMAN that is also copied to the offsite facility.
My network team copies all archivelogs to the offsite facility as well.
In the worst case disaster we will fail over to our offsite facility in order to keep business running. At such a time (and when we run DR tests) I will create the database and restore from all of the above backups.
