Customer Clean up in R11i or after Upgrading to R12?

   We are currently on Oracle EBS R11i. The Customers in Receivables and one real world Customer is defined number of times. We definietly need to do Customer Cleanup.
 We are preparing for R12 Upgrade. Should we do Customer Cleanup in R11i? Or Should we do Customer cleanup after upgrading to R12? 

Please share your thoughts from your experience?

I personally think it will be same amount of effort whether we clean up in R11i or we do cleanup in R12?

Please suggest?
