Can't Start Database

Hello

I installed 2 database instance on one server.  I managed to sup down the database but now I can't figure out how to start it up.  When I type startup it looks at the wrong instance, how do I point it to the correct instance.  I am useing oracle 11g R2 on a linux operating system
