Encumbrance/Commitment Processing - Procurement

I am refering to Bulletin 625480.1 which is a very good document.  All references in the article reference a J Line Type.

 My question is my setups in Requisition Sel Service include only Stocking type = N and Line Type =N  items. The whole reference in the article is around J line type . Does commitment processing  work with Line Type N.? The account structure are linked  thru the GL Class codes and the Commodity structure and AAI's for a G/L Class code to a specific account.
