Need a clarification to apply superseded patch

Hi,

    The patch 5912291 Is superseded by another patch 6617445, we have applied patch 6617445 and another patch 5912291 is not applied.

    I don't find this patch 5912291 entry in AD_BUGS tables? Please confirm.

    Whether we need to apply both the patches?

    Please provide detail information about superseded patch concept.
