New DFF - US_ETHNIC_ORIGIN delivered with RUP7

Hi!  We've recently applied RUP7 to our 11.5.10 development environment.  I was aware prior to the patch that there was to be a change to the existing Ethnic Origin field (moving it to an EIT).  Unfortunately, we have several pieces of custom code which reference the old Ethnic Origin fiels (per_all_people_f.per_information1), so we are going to have to change all of that code.  Does anyone have any best practices revolving around changing custom code to reflect the new field since the old will not be updated?  What table are the new values stored in?  Did the APIs associated with changing ethnic
