A Question on the Second Set of FLEXFIELDS in Asset>Setup>Financials in 11i.

I've been reviewing Assets Setup between 11i and 12.1 and I noticed that there is a second set of Flexfield groups within 11i that does not appear within the 12 setup.  I am wondering what this difference makes or is this handled by some other new methiod?
