Physical standby backup

Hi All,

I'm a bit confused regarding the backup strategy in a Data Guard environment.

We have a two node RAC setup with a one node physical standby database.

At this moment the primary database is backed up to the FRA and the FRA is backed up to tape with the use of HP Data Protector.

So now I just have setup a Recovery catalog and I registered the primary database.
What exacltly do I need to do to make rman aware of the existence of the standby database?
Once this is in place will the archive logs on the standby site get deleted once they are backed up? I did have problems with archive logs filling the standby archive log destination before.
