Standby archive log location

Hi,
In an active data guard configuration, can the standby database use the primary database archived log location and primary archived log files instead of creating separate, duplicate copies in another directory for the standby database? I'm using data guard broker. I'm not interested in doing switchovers or failovers. The standby database will always be in a read-only state.
