Deadlock

I understand that oracle will resolve deadlock issue by itself. The deadlock generated trace file. But when I open the trace file, I don't really know how to interpret that. Or, find out what session is locking what. Is there a document out there that shows how to interpret the deadlock trace file? Basically, how to find out the culprit so that I can let the developers know? The version is 10.2.0.3 database on 9.2.0.8 compatible setting on solaris 10. Thanks.
