Knowing when an ASM Manager goes down

Greetings all -
Do we have recommendations for knowing if/when an ASR Manager host goes down? 

From the documentation, it appears Oracle will send an alert if the ASR Manager doesn't connect with Oracle within 50 hours.  We also have the high-availability option.  But if the ASR Manager is on a supported host for monitoring, can it also be a client?

Is it supported to have another ASR Manager monitor it for alerts?
