R12.1.2 - testing xml publisher bursting

Not sure if this is the appropriate group for this question, so please pass me along if you need to.

We need to test a patch for XML Publisher Bursting Report and my question is what is the best way to ensure that the system does through the process but does NOT email our customers.  We have noticed some reports/requests will still email our vendors and/or customers.
