R12 patches applicable for OS 64 bit(Linux x86_64)

We received this question from couple of customers recently on R12 patches
For eg: patch XXXXX:R12.PO.B, OS mentioned is 32 bit(Linux x86) but our system is 64 bit(x86_64), can we apply 32 bit patch

When trying to request patch for this platform in R12 through ARU, receiving the following message

Patching is not enabled for "226 - Linux x86-64" in release R12

Can customers apply 32 bit patch though they are on 64 bit OS. Please confirm.
