Setup an account to only allow subledeger posting

Is there a way to setup an account to only allow journal entry postings by the subledger modules?  We don't want manual journal entries posted to these accounts.  We tried security rules but that didn't work because it won't allow the GL users to inquire on the account and the account doens't appear in some of the reports which caused variances.
