How to enter a prior year adjustment journal entry?

Hi folks,

For some reason we need to reopen prior fiscal year and enter an adjustment journal entry in Dec-11. We have an adjustment period on 01-Jan-12. Is there anything need to be done other than re-open the period and enter the journal entry? Is there any year end process need to be run to bring the beginning balance of 2012 to correct amount?
