SGA and RAM memory doubt

Hi,

have a doubt in SGA size and RAM memory.

Assume:

Database: 10g

Server: AIX

Total RAM Size: 2G

SGA_MAX_SIZE=500MB

SGA_TARGET=0

No other users are connected.

My doubt:

In this scenario, Will SGA of size 500MB occupy the RAM size or Will it occupy only needed (Assume:300MB) rest of the memory will be available in RAM? or Will it occupy whole 500MB of SGA in RAM?

Please could someone clarify my doubt.
