Workflow error: ORA-20002: 3136: Item 'OECOGS/2120' cannot be accessed while synchronous process in

OECOGS workflow was working correclty without any issues. Now it has started throwing this error :

"ORA-20002: 3136: Item 'OECOGS/2120' cannot be accessed while synchronous process in progress"   We loaded the workflow again and bounced the workflow server, even then it is throwing the same error. Can any one help me resolve this issue and understand why this error occurs.
