Can a previously created commoned BOM be un-commoned?

Years ago our company was ill advised to create our bills of materials in Global and common them to other organizations.

We now want to stop that practice and create them in the proper business organization and common elsewhere if necessary.

Creating brand new is not a problem, but can we correct historical BOMs and break the Global ownership without deleting those bills and starting over?
