Information on how best to create a failover situation using standard edition Oracle

Dear Community,I'm looking for good information on options available to me. Our main db is Standard Edition 11g running on Linux. It's behind several online web applications. It's run in archive log mode, with hot back ups every night and all relevent files copied to tape each night. A datapump export is also taken nightly and copied to tape.

Now I want to think about a strategy for high availability, such that if the server fails , I could switch to another server and very quickly have the online apps back up and running.
Although there seems to be a lot of information out there I'd like to ask the community if they could point me to up to date documentation on this.

Howdy, Stranger!
