Serial number received for repair

Hi,

I want to know how can I prevent a serial number from getting shipped on a regular sales order if it has been received by depot repair for repair? Ideally this serial number should be shipped back to the same customer after repair. But this serial number can get picked for shipment on any other regular sales order. How do we prevent this?
