Upgrading from 11.1.0.7 to 11.2.0.3 EBS Single Node Instance

Team,
I have a scenario here , I have a 11.0.7 Single Node Pro running now on Linux. This is an EBS Instance

We are planing for  11.2.0.3 Upgrade

Plan is to out of Box Install -> Means a diff home for 11.2.0 And then Upgrade to 11.2.0.3

But my Question is if mine is a single node Instance I will not be doing a cluster Install / But Grid i would be installing i have read some where that since its a single node 11.2.0.3 we can skip Grid install and just do a usual 11.2.0.3 Install only(11gr2 am sure its with Grid Architecture) But i want to make sure there is nothing changed.
