Windows 7 and IE 9

Has anyone been successful with windows 7 and ie 9 on an older tools release and application level, we know that Oracle will not support it before 8.98.2 but we are on tools 8.96 and application 8.9 and are wanting to upgrade to windows 7. Would like to hear from anyone on an older release that has tried or has been successful.
