Patching for 12.1.3 - Advanced Product Catalog

We have recently upgraded to 12.1.3, we are now implementing Product Information Management (PIM) to get Advanced Product Catalog functionality.  When we search for patches on top of 12.1.3 we get close to 300 patches that should be applied.  Clearly this is not practical.  Is there a better way to determine patching requirements for 12.1.3.  Such as is there any roll up patches, do we really need to go back for one year, what is the reality?  How can we get the most recent product installed, without spending an additional week of DBA time installing 300+ patches?
