Convert Custom Date field to a Fiscal Year and Quarter

I know that many of the Subject Areas have a built-in section for adding a "Fiscal Year"/"Fiscal Quarter" column to a report.  For example, the "Accounts" subject area has the Date Created section.  That is great if I want to create a simple report on the number of new Accounts CREATED in a given Fiscal Year/Quarter.

However, what if I'd like to report on a custom date field instead of the OOB Created Date?  For example, I have a custom field "Contract End Date" on the Account object that I'd like to add a field to the report that displays 2 separate columns for the Fiscal Year and Quarter for the "Contract End Date" field.  Is there any function/formula that would make this easy?
