Files that will modified by running autoconfig

What type of files in EBS will be modified only by running autoconfig? I know context_file seems to be one of them. Any other file is maintained by autoconfig? My version is r12. If I want to add an entry to the tnsnames.ora for ebs instance? How should I achieve that? Can I just manually edit the tnsnames.ora using vi editor?

What I am trying to do is that I am testing rman full backup using recovery catalog. I have the catalog database created in another server. I am trying to add the tnsnames entry to the ebs instance so that I will be able to connect to the catalog from the target ebs database and run the backup test.
