Excel Template to build XML Publisher Reports

Hi ,

Could you please let me know if there are any white paper or Documentation which list steps to build xml publisher report using EXCEL template and is this feature supported in R12.1.3.

What difficulties or errors that we commonly face while using excel template instead of rtf and pdf template.
