sl24 compression

I have a question regarding the StorageTek sl24 Tape Autoloader. I use Oracle Secure Backup and need to compress the data that I am storing to tape. I have been advised on how to do this using OSB however they said that it is recommended that I use my tape drives hardware compression capability. Does the StorageTek sl24 Tape Autoloader have the capability of hardware compression??
