Oracle Golden Gate usage in upgrade from 10.2.0.4 RAC with Physical Standby to 11.2.0.3

Am currently on the planning and preparatory phase of a high priority database upgrade on a two node 10.2.0.x RAC systems with two physical stanby's using DG.
and I understand that Oracle Golden Gate can be used here to perform the upgrade with very less application downtime

This is the first time am using Oracle GG and i wanted to know the Pro's and Con's of using this before making a decision.
Current Environment:
Two Node RAC Database on 10.2.0.4 with two physical standby databases configured with data guard running on Linux x86_64
Target Environment: Upgrade the above to 11.2.0.3 with minimal downtime
