Count of contacts in workflow campaign

Hi, I have created a simple workflow campaign of  Start->Send birthday email->Exit

my birthday program that's associated with this workflow is setup with a target list that has conditions of if you're birthday falls wtithin a certain date range. 

in my workflow, I have this  target list as a dynamic inclusion list , to target any new registrants whose birthday falls between this date range to get sent a birthday email.

My question is, I'm trying to get a count of people who was targeted through this workflow campaign.

Originally I thought I could get this count by using the Campaign Automation Summary report.  But then I also checked and refreshed my target list to see if the count would match the number generated from my report, but the count doesn't match.
