Using an Exernal list in On Demand Marketing

When setting up a Target list in ODM, you have the option to use an External list as your data source.  Under List Type, where you select External List, there is a List Source field, which is a required field.  My question is what do I put in this field?  I checked through the details in the help file for Target Lists, but couldn't find any helpful information on the List Source field.
