fields with the same name

Hello all,
I have and AML file with fields with the same name (several called "Value") but at different levels. I need to change the name of one of the fields in my template so I can use it in a IF condition.How do I do that? I was thinking maybe creating a variable  to store the contents of the field but unsure how to start that. Also, I can not change the rdf file.
