formatting zero values in pivot table

hi,I would like to show empty cells instead of 0 in a pivot table in BI Publisher 11.
 I am user the web layout editor.

I tried to edit the property of the field under data formatting:
formating style Microsoft
formatting mask: 0;-0;;@ as mentioned here

but then when I run the report I get an ERROR OCCURED message..
It's a shame because in the layout editor, empty cells shows as empty without 0...
