Annual Physical Inventory (API)

During Annual Physical Inventory, we want to count a serial controlled item group on the basis of quantity only and not on serial no.s. Other serial controlled and non serial controlled item groups would be counted as serial controlled and non serial controlled only.Is this possible in an API. If yes, please help me with the setups.
