Adjustment Period

Hi,

I want to understand the Adjustment Periods concept. I went through the user guides and some metalink notes. But I could not understand the following.

1. Can we import Journal Entries from External system to GL Adjustment Period?

2. Can we upload Journal Entries using Web ADI into Adjustment Period?

OR

3. Is adjustment Period just for Manual Journal Entries?
