Can a move from Multi-Tenant to Single Tenant be easily accomplished in house?

My company is moving from Multi to Single Tenant. We are getting conflicting information about the level of expertise and resources needed to accomplish the cutover.

 

Does anyone have experience with having moved to a single tenant?

 

Is there a level of technical work that is more complicated than simply updating URLs and custom web tabs to the new pod URL?  Our initial perception is that this should be very similar to the quarterly refreshes of staging from PROD where we have to re-point URLs to staging pod.

 

We’ve heard non-specific references that we have to do configuration work that doesn’t simple copy from the old Staging to the New Staging. Can anyone shed light on whether this is true and what kind of configuration it may be?
