E1 UBE is completed successfully but leaving the Linux process open

we have recently Upgrade to Linux and 8.98.4.2 from 8.97.2.3 Unix ,

We have an E1 UBE , which completes successfully with Status " D " in wsj  but the linux process is left open  , the problem here is

The shell script we use to submit the UBE from autosys feeds status back based on the Linux process. So it looks for processes matching the UBE / version, to identify the process ID, which it then relates to the E1 queue. The issues we are seeing is that 2 or 3 times a week, (with no obvious pattern), the Linux process is left after the UBE has completed. So, when the job runs again, (it's submitted daily), it finds both processes on Linux, and passed a concatenation of the IDs to E1. That results in no record found, so the script
