Regarding subversion features with Siebel

hello Gurus,

we are planning to use subversion as version control tool for managing releases.

I would like to understand if merge is supported for developers working on multiple branches or it needs to be done manually.

There is requirement to merge different branches where developers are working.

say for eg.  there are couple of project releases going in parallel working on different branches and finally there is need to merge these changes. How can this be handled with siebel as it is not a typical programming language.
