rman duplicate for standby from active database

I have been struggling with an issue of creating a DG Phs Standby on a remote host offsite with 'rman duplicate for standby from active database'.

All testing done on-site is successful and in our Solaris 10 hosts with 11201/11202 target versions I had NO issue to our remote DR site.

I am trying to create a standby at the DR site, this time on linux x86_64 environs.

The first part of this is to copy the system parameter file over to the standby site and startup the Aux wiht the settings.

The problem is that I see the file showing up on the $ORACLE_HOME/dbs location but the file is empty. The pocess appears to hang at that point but does not die even after several hours. All inhouse tests  on this platform and on the Solaris platform (production) the auxiliary database gets the new spfile created very fast at the beginning of the whole process and away it goes, transferring files.

Howdy, Stranger!
