Need to suggestion for keeping backups and archivelogs on ASM Diskgroups

Currently we are using acfs mount point for our backups and archivelogs. Which is quite complicated with clustereware. Sometimes we come across situation where our clusterware is down since asm instance is dependent on clusterware. So access to acfs is not possible. 

I want suggestion w.r.t to keeping the backup and archivelogs on asm diskgroup directly.

If we keep our backups and archivelogs on asm diskgroup, then would we be able to access our backup and archivelog if clusterware and asm instance is down.
