ASM Disks problem

Hi All,

I am working 11g R2 RAC environment and facing an issue that is new to me.

Could anyone please help me on this?

Problem:

We have a production environment with RAC database with ASM. We have replicated the same ASM disks (disks that are being used for database on prodution environemnt) to an another RAC environemnt. In the new RAC environment we have a database on a disk group DATA. On production environment as well the the disk group name is DATA only.

Now, when we see these replicated disks through ASMCA, they are with "MEMBER" status with no path identified. And when we try to create a new disk group with these replicated disks it throughs an error saying that these are already part of a disk group called "DATA'. Our I endeavor is to bring the production database to be up in the new RAC environment as DR database with the existing database.

Howdy, Stranger!
