Custom .net application using API

 Does anyone have examples of using the API with .net? I have the FDM API object guide, and it has helped (I am able to log into the fdm application, change the pov, etc). However, I am trying to use vb.net to respond to events, and I am not having any success. 
I am trying to create clsImport object (highlighted in red), but get "429 - Cannot create ActiveX component". I plan on setting this to objImport = GobjAS.PobjAPI.Import. I would like the AftClearData event to be handled (or any event for that matter).

Any suggestions, or examples would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
