stopping Siebel tasks in "Handling Request: status

Hello,Is there a way to stop a Siebel task in "Handling Request" status other than killing the object manager PID? We are sometimes seeing some tasks stuck in this status for more than a day and waiting for a DB query to complete. 
The DBA kills the long running query from the DB server but the Siebel task never completes or times out. Is there a way to kill these tasks other than killing the object manger PID?
