Importance of AR Transaction Print flags

Can you please let me know what is the importance of Printing flags other than flagging which transactions are printed and which are eligible for printing?.

Do we need to maintain this to meet any auditing requirements around this?

Because we are planning print transactions having printing option "Do Not Print" using BPA print program by updating the printing option to "Print". BPA program will update the print flags for these transactions. However, these transactions will not be sent to customers, they are being printed for Imaging/archiving only. When any auditing team looks at these transactions, they will conclude that they were sent to customers. also we can distinguish which are sent to customers and which are not (unless we maintain separate audit table)
