Bank statement file in MT940 format provided by the bank is not in the same format that jde expects

We are trying to start using the automatic bank statement processing and we have had a file provided from our bank (lloyds bank in the uk) in MT940 swift format.  when we try and run it in using R09600 it fails.  we logged it with oracle support who say the file is in the incorrect swift format, that it's in MT012 format but our bank is adamant that it is in MT940 format.

Is there anywhere to see a standard MT940 swift file format layout and compare it to MT012 ?  Can anybody show me an example of one from a uk bank or should it be irrelevant where the bank is given that it is an international format??
