R12 Upgrade Question - Suppliers who are also Customers

We have customers who are also our suppliers. We have D&B installed which currently uses TCA & DQM

Can someone tell me how the R12 upgrade will migrate both customers and suppliers into TCA? 
Is there any opportunity to identify the same entity or to merge them post upgrade?
