Inventory Accouting Period name not comming properly in XML Report output when opened in Excel

Hello
I have BI/XML Excel report with RTF template in which i have to show the INV accounting period (Format: Sep-2012) but when i opened the output in excel the INV accounting period is showing as 'Sep-12'. I tried to convert to char in the code but no luck. Can anybody suggest me how to get this fixed?
