fit long text into a fixed size column?

I am building a template.  The template has a table with 3 columns.  one of the column is for address.  The address can be long or short.  If the address is VERY long, I don't want it wrap text ( column size must be fixed ).  I want to fit the long address into the column by shrink the text fo fit. 

I am using MSword 2007,  I know under table property > cells > options > fit text.  I checked that and uncheck the wrap text.  But when the output from EBS has the long address cut off due to the fixed column size.  What did I miss???
