Connection between Notification Approval and Purchasing Periods

Hi\

Is there any Connection between Notification Approval of Purchase Requsition and Purchasing Periods .

Thats is , i have closed the Purchasing period of September and open October i still have Requsition notifications pending for Approval which i recieved in September can i Approve it , will the Period closing have any effect on the Requsition Approval ?
