OAB - R12.1.3 HRMS Rup5 - Open Life Event effective date vs. Annual Merit Change effective date

Hi,

We have an annual "dilimma" - our benefits year starts on 01/01 as well as our annual merit increase effective date.  However, Oracle OAB does not allow two life events occur on the same day for the same person.  We've had to fiddle with the merit increase effective date in the past two years.  But is this what we must deal with every year?  We'd like to know how other companies handle this situation?  Are there any best practice advices out there?

Any info or tips or hints are greatly appreciated!
