Allocation of Costs to Asset with different Date Place in Service

Hi,

I am trying to find out how to resolve the following situation allocating costs between assets that have different date placed in service.

For Period 1 I have 1.000.000 of cost collected against Task 1

Asset A assigned to that task needs to be placed in service on the 10-SEP-2012 and the actual cost of the asset is 400.000

How can I do to place in service the asset and generate asset lines but only for a value of 400.000?

The only way that I found so far is to Generate Asset Lines for 1.000.000 and then split the line: 400.000 against Asset A and 600.000 as UNASSIGNED.
